Go to the front door and listen

This morning my husband left early for a meeting out of town.  He had just left the house when the phone rang.  It was Mike telling me to go to the front door and listen.  He had seen and heard a robin in our yard this morning.  He was thrilled!
Just when I wondered if the ice in the gutters and the ruts in the streets would ever disappear, there’s a robin in our front yard!  Spring is on its way.  Did I just hear you say “AMEN”?
We have hope of warmer temperatures and sunny days (I actually think the sun is peeking through the clouds this morning).  We have hope of tulips and daffodils poking their beautiful heads through the ground that has been covered in white for what seems like a long time.
The book of Psalms is filled with words of hope.  In Psalm 119, there are many references to “hope”.  In verse 114 the Psalmist says, “You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word.”  And in Psalm 147:11, it says “the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.”
Our hope does rest in God’s word and our faith in an everlasting, ever-loving God.
God is so faithful and true.  I don’t know about you, but today my hope will be buoyed by remembering Mike saying to me this morning, “Go to the front door and listen.  There’s a robin out here.”
